2024 FLSA overtime final rule overturned
From: Human Resources
On Nov. 15, 2024, a federal judge in Texas overturned all parts to the 2024 FLSA final rule. The final rule was previously released by the U.S. Department of Labor and impacted the FLSA salary threshold for most exempt employees. Exempt employees are in positions that are not eligible for overtime.
For Virginia Tech employees this means:
- Employees who received a salary increase due to the July 1, 2024, threshold update to $43,888 will maintain that increased salary.
- The Jan. 1, 2025 minimum salary threshold increase to $58,656 will not take effect.
