This December, we offer programs to support your winter well-being.   

Dec. 3, 1:15-2 p.m.: Mental Health Resources Information Session (online): Join us for a short overview of the mental health resources available to Virginia Tech employees, including TimelyCare and the Employee Assistance Program. The facilitator will stay after the presentation to answer attendees' questions. Registration is required.  

Dec. 5, 12-1 p.m.: More Joy, Less Stress (online): The holidays should be a time of joy, yet the stress of the holidays or loss faced during the year can take their toll. This virtual program will help you so you can set realistic personal goals and thereby add more joy back into the season. Registration is required.  

Dec. 10, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Body Project for Employees: The Body Project is a group-based intervention that provides a forum for people to confront unrealistic appearance ideals and develop healthy body image and self-esteem. The meeting will be held in the North End Center, room 3600. Registration is required.   

Dec. 12, 12-1 p.m.: Healthy Holidays (online): The holiday season can be a tempting time to forego healthy eating habits. This virtual program will offer tips on enjoying the holidays and maintaining your healthy habits by setting personal goals and still enjoying good food and treats. Registration is required.  

Dec. 15, 1-3 p.m.: Parent/Guardian Meet Up at Wonder Universe: Come join us as we meet informally while our children enjoy the many activities available at the Wonder Universe Children’s Museum. Free entry. We have reserved the party room and will have snacks available. If you plan to come, or are a “maybe,” please RSVP.  

Dec. 16, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: "Improv" Your Communication: Join Talent Development and Hokie Wellness for a fun workshop that explores the benefits of learning the foundational aspects of improvisation and how those skills can be used to enhance communication in both personal and professional environments. The meeting will be held in the North End Center, room 2410. Registration is required.   

Dec. 17, 12-1 p.m.: Take a Brain Break: Join Hokie Wellness for a midday brain break. Bring your lunch and make a DIY craft. Materials will be provided. The meeting will be held in the North End Center, room 2440. Registration is required.  

Dec. 20, 12-12:45 p.m.: Sick Visits: What Questions Should You Really Be Asking? (hybrid): This session will help you learn the important questions to ask and how to best advocate for yourself and those you care for during medical appointments. This presentation is part of the Physician Series offered each month by the LewisGale Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. The session will be held in the North End Center, room 2410 and via Zoom. Registration is required.
