Election information and support events for students

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, and many events are planned to support students during this time. Whether you’re looking for information prior to voting or about ways to get involved after voting, or just want some time to relax and destress after a busy election season, there are plenty of activities to join. All students are welcome!
Tuesday, Nov. 5 (Election Day)
Vote, Emote and Find Your Flow
- From noon to 2 p.m.
- Hosted by Cook Counseling Center at the Library
- Location is the patio outside of the coffeeshop or the Multipurpose Room of the Library on the first floor (weather depending)
- See the therapy dogs, make some simple art, get some free coffee, reflect on the supports in your life, and do some guided stretching to learn what your body feels like when the stress response is reset.
Hokies Vote Tabling
- From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Hosted by the Hokies Vote Caucus, a nonpartisan civic engagement student program, and other organizations at the Squires polling center
- Recruitment for the Hokies Vote Caucus as well as information prior to voting and how to get engaged after the election.
Therapy Dog ‘Pawfice’ Hours
- 4-5 p.m. at McComas Hall Gym
Free Gentle Yoga and Meditation
- 7:30 p.m.
- Hosted by the Graduate School in the GLC Wellness Room
- Comfortable clothes recommended, yoga mats provided.
Wednesday, Nov. 6
- From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Hosted by the Cultural and Community Centers in Squires
- Indulge in a variety of self-care activities throughout the day. Spend time at any or all of the Centers to relieve stress and express yourself. Light refreshments provided. Check the GobblerConnect event for more info. Attend as many activities as you like!
Post-Election Day Programming
Hosted by the Graduate School in the GLC Wellness Room
- 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Yoga: Let’s Breathe and Move!
- Noon to 1 p.m. Bridging Divides through the Power of Empathy
- 2-3 p.m. Restorative Dialogue Across Differences
- 4-5 p.m. Explore Dalton-Smith’s Diverse Approaches to Restorative Practices
- 6-7:15 p.m. Yoga: All Levels Welcome, Flow with Grounding, Breath Work, and Foundational Shapes and Sequences

- 2-3 p.m. at War Memorial Gym
