Dialing “9” for an external line no longer needed on Zoom Phone

Legacy option of dialing 9 will be turned off beginning Sept. 23

From: Division of Information Technology, Network Infrastructure & Services

On Zoom Phone, calls going out from university extensions do not need a “9” to be dialed before the rest of the number. Please note that beginning Monday, September 23rd, 2024, the option to dial “9” before the number will be disabled. External calls from Zoom Phone extensions should be made by simply dialing the 10-digit number, without using any prefix.

International calls

International calls also do not need the “9” prefix. Calls can be placed by authorized users starting with “011” and the international country code.

Internal calls

There is no change to the process for making internal calls, which continues to support 5 digit calling.
