Masters endurance and ultra-endurance athletes needed for a research study
From: Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise
Researchers need highly active masters athletes (60 years or older) for a study examining the relationship between physical activity and total number of calories expended each day (IRB #21-567).
Participants must be 60 years or older, with stable body weight over the past year (±5 lb.), and free of cardiovascular, lung, metabolic, kidney disease or cancer. We are specifically looking for masters endurance athletes who have completed marathons and/or ultra-marathons within the past year, with sustained high levels of training for the past 6 months, and with no recent injuries or other reasons that have changed the training volume.
This study will require one virtual meeting and two visits to the Human Integrative Physiology Laboratory at Virginia Tech, which will take approximately six hours. Participants will be entered in a drawing for $25 cash (Odds of being selected 1 in 5). For more information, please contact Aubrey Johnson at aubreyleahj@vt.edu
