New required state training for all employees

The Commonwealth of Virginia has released new guidelines for required employee training, as of July 1. The state has phased out the State of Virginia: Civilian Response to Active Shooter training, replacing it with the State of Virginia: Terrorism & Security Awareness course.

The course State of Virginia: Terrorism & Security Awareness is a 45-minute basic awareness course and is designed to familiarize state employees with terrorism and other security-related concerns, providing essential prevention and protection information. The course focuses on security matters and understanding terrorism.  

This course will be available starting the week of July 29. All current employees must complete the course by Oct. 1, and new hires must complete the course within 90 days of employment.
