Attend the Hokie Wellness Elder Care Symposium

Hokie Wellness and co-sponsor Warm Hearth Village will host a hybrid Elder Care Symposium on Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North End Center. The symposium will offer multiple sessions on topics for aging adults, caregivers, and employees who may be planning their future.

The day will feature a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, exhibitors, lunch, and the opportunity to receive vaccinations, which may include RSV, shingles, pneumonia, and possibly others.

Topics will include:

  • Ageism and normalizing old ages: toward valuing later life
  • Caregiving for family members living with dementia
  • Legal preparation for aging
  • Polypharmacy and high-risk medications in older adults
  • Brain health
  • Skilled rehab vs. long-term care and home health
  • Medicare fraud
  • Planning for aging in place: your home 
  • REVIVE! opioid overdose reversal 

Registration is required  and has been extended to Sept. 10. Once you have registered, enrollment for the breakout sessions will follow.
