Departmental Emergency Action Plans due Aug. 1

From: Virginia Tech Emergency Management

The development of an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is an integral part of the emergency management system at Virginia Tech. The EAP outlines both the protective actions that personnel should take to address immediate life safety during an emergency, as well as building specific information related to hazards, evacuation and assembly.

All university departments have designated EAP coordinators who are responsible for maintaining an updated EAP Base Plan for the department; each building has designated Building Emergency Coordinators (BECs) responsible for maintaining an updated Building Annex Plan as part of the overall Emergency Action Plan.

Designated EAP coordinators and BECs have access to update and submit plans through Virginia Tech Emergency Management’s Departmental Emergency Planning Portal.

Annual plan updates are due Thursday, Aug. 1.
