July 2, 12-1 p.m.: Mindful Journaling (online): Intentional and mindful reflection offers employees an opportunity to reconnect with their sense of purpose by working through a collection of guided journaling prompts. Registration is required.
July 9, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Mental Health Media Hour: This workshop will explore examples of TV and film references to mental health challenges. Join us as we explore some of them and debunk myths and stereotypes about mental health along the way. The session will be held in Torgersen Hall (Bridge). Registration is required.
July 10, 8:30-9 a.m.: Guided Meditations (online): Take 30 minutes to begin your day participating in guided meditations. Build your mindfulness skills with this practice and you may even find that you have a new perspective on the rest of your day. The program will end with mindful chair yoga. Registration is required.
July 10, 12:15-1 p.m.: Child Safety: Preventing Vehicular Heatstroke (online): It’s important to understand that children are more vulnerable to heatstroke and that all hot car deaths are preventable. We all play a role in making sure another death doesn’t happen. Learn more about vehicular heatstroke, how it happens, and how to prevent it. Registration is required.
July 11, 12-1 p.m.: How to Help a Loved One Find Recovery (hybrid): Join Kaitlin Carter, assistant director of the Virginia Tech Recovery Community, to learn how you can best support individuals you care about with their recovery journey. “Recovery” is inclusive of substance use, pornography, gambling, and other areas. Community resources will be discussed. The session will take place in North End Center and via Zoom. Registration is required.
July 12, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: Mental Health First Aid: MHFA takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address issues as they arise. The session will take place in the North End Center, in a room to be announced. Registration is required.
July 16, 12-1 p.m.: Sleep Better Techniques (online): This virtual program will provide information on what happens when you sleep, along with tips on how to start reaping the benefits of great sleep. Registration is required.
July 18, 12-1 p.m.: "Improv" Your Communication: Explore the benefits of learning the foundational aspects of improvisation and how those skills can be used to enhance communication in both personal and professional environments. The workshop will be held in the Newman Library, Goodall Room. Registration is required.
July 23, 12-1 p.m.: Take a Brain Break: Join Hokie Wellness for a mid-day brain break. Bring your lunch and make a DIY craft. Materials will be provided. The session will take place in the North End Center, in a room to be announced. Registration is required.
July 24, 12-1 p.m.: Home Buying in 2024 (online): Join Mark Creason from Virginia Credit Union to learn more about the ins and outs of buying a home in today's challenging housing market. Registration is required.
July 25, 12:15-1 p.m.: Healthy Nutrition for Sleep (online): This workshop will explore the relationship between nutrition and sleep, and also discuss various foods that are associated with improved sleep. Registration is required.
July 30, 12-1 p.m.: Resiliency in the Workplace: Key to Connection (online): In this virtual workshop, participants will learn how social connection is key to promoting resiliency, discuss different types of social support, and practice communication skills. Registration is required.
