Hokie Wellness is partnering with NRV Cares to bring the program Stewards of Children to Virginia Tech on July 17. The program will be held from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. at The Inn.

Stewards of Children is an evidence-informed, award-winning training that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Attendees learn practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities.

The training is created by Darkness to Light, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering adults to prevent child sexual abuse.

The training is delivered in a trauma-informed way by rigorously trained instructors and facilitators. The session features powerful videos paired with robust facilitated discussion. Participants will learn three foundational empowerment skills:

  • Making choices that protect children
  • Taking risks to minimize danger to children
  • Supporting each other

Registration is required. For more information or questions, contact Hokie Wellness at hokiewellness@vt.edu or by calling 540-231-8878. If you need an accommodation, please contact Ana Agud at aagud@vt.edu or by calling 540-231-1228 at least seven days prior to the program.
