Applications are now open for the 2024 Future Faculty Diversity Program. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 16 and the program will take place Oct. 6-9.

Over the past 14 years, the FFDP at Virginia Tech has welcomed more than 300 graduate students, post-docs, and early career faculty members. This three-day program in Blacksburg provides scholars with a unique opportunity to learn about the university's culture; meet with senior leaders; and share their research and scholarship with department heads, faculty members, and students. Future Faculty Scholars also gain valuable insights into life as a faculty member at Virginia Tech, learning from world-class professors and researchers in STEM, social sciences, and the humanities.

FFDP is designed to advance InclusiveVT (the institutional and individual commitment to Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence). It offers a dynamic professional development and outreach program to encourage graduate students and post-doctoral scholars to consider current or future faculty positions at Virginia Tech.

FFDP administrators aim to identify graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who, through their backgrounds, experiences, and achievements, can demonstrate their ability to:

  • Work with diverse communities of faculty, staff, and students
  • Contribute to InclusiveVT, the institutional and individual commitment to Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence
  • Support Virginia Tech’s Principles of Community
  • Exhibit their potential to succeed as a faculty member at Virginia Tech based on their research and teaching experience

Transportation, lodging, and food expenses are covered by Virginia Tech for invited scholars.

Application requirements and additional information can be found on the FFDP website. All questions can be sent to ffdp@vt.edu.
