Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair changes and highlights

Includes event parking and ADA accommodations

From: Human Resources

Thanks to those who provided feedback from last year’s Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair. We continue to build upon each year! We hope you will make plans to attend this year on Wednesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lane Stadium. This event will happen rain or shine!

Back by popular demand, we will have DJ Flex for the entire event, a 360-degree video booth on the field and a photo booth near gate 1. Employees can participate in a variety of game options, touch the Hokie Stone as they walk onto Worsham Field, get free health screenings, visit approximately 60 health and wellness exhibitors, and more!

Here are some highlights for this year’s event:

  • Get into the spirit of Ut Prosim:
    • Hokie Wellness will hold a food drive for The Market of Virginia Tech and collect non-perishable items at the fair entrance on the east concourse of Lane Stadium.
    • The American Red Cross will host a blood drive in the south end zone, east club room. Register to donate!
  • Lunch will be available in the south end zone during the entire event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch format continues to improve:
    • Concession stands will serve Beyond Meat burgers, BBQ pork, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, kettle chips, small salads, brownies, cookies, and drinks.
    • Grab-and-Go stations will serve turkey wraps, chips, and cookies.
    • A gluten-free station will serve Beyond Meat burgers or grilled chicken sandwiches on gluten free rolls, salads, and brownies.
    • Popcorn and water will be available on the east concourse and ice cream will be available at Gate 3.
    • Please note: A higher volume is expected between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • DJ Flex will move from the field to gate 3 plaza to interact with employees more.
  • For nursing mothers: A lactation room has been added on the west concourse and a storage fridge will be available in the south end zone.
  • Part of the Sharing the Road program, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) will have its Hokie-themed semi-truck set up in the parking lot, outside Gate 3.

We are excited at the many options employees can choose from this year, whether it is to eat; relax; catch up with colleagues; play a game; dance; donate; get a health screening; or learn something new about volunteer opportunities, your health, or your community. Come out on Wednesday, May 15 and see for yourself!

Parking and ADA accommodations: Employees do not need a parking permit to attend the event and can park in Lane Stadium Lot 2 or Lot 3. There are ADA spaces available in the stadium lot on the south end of Lane Stadium. Lane Stadium Gate 2, directly across from the ADA spaces, serves as the ADA entrance. All others can enter through gate 3. View the event parking map for more details.
