Middle-aged/older adults needed for compensated research study

From: Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise

Participants are needed for a study (IRB Protocol # 22-558) to learn if consuming artificial sweeteners have any impact on glucose levels in adults at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Participants will be provided all meals for 6 weeks to determine if two commonly consumed artificial sweeteners have an impact on glucose levels. Participants will be randomized into one of three groups: saccharin, acesulfame potassium (Ace-K), or control group. You may be eligible to participate if you are at least 40 years old.

This study involves approximately 21-33 visits to the Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus, over 7 weeks. Total time commitment will be about 26 hours. Participants will be compensated a total of $1,000 upon successful completion of all study visits.
