Accessibility Awareness Week spotlight: Accessibility training
From: Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies
Virginia Tech's Accessible Technologies group provides regular workshops on topics related to assistive technologies and web and document accessibility. Workshops are offered through the TLOS Professional Development Network (PDN) to faculty, staff, and graduate students, and to individual groups by request. Participants learn about tools and techniques for creating accessible instructional materials and gain practical experience designing and creating accessible and inclusive learning environments. The PDN Accessibility Champion Pathway offers four self-paced learning opportunities focused on promoting more inclusive learning environments. Participants who complete the pathway earn an Accessibility Champion certificate.
Additionally, Virginia Tech provides access to the LinkedIn Learning online video training library (requires VT PID login), which provides modules and full courses on topics related to web and document accessibility.
Virginia Tech Accessibility Awareness Week is modeled after Global Accessibility Awareness Day. The goal of this week is to provide learning opportunities and resources that engage the campus community to think, discuss, learn, and take action regarding digital and physical accessibility. The week is sponsored by the Office for Equity and Accessibility, Campus Accessibility Working Group, and Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies.
