Accessibility Awareness Week spotlight: Free IAAP membership

From: Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies

Understanding and applying accessibility principles is part of creating a more inclusive university culture. To help achieve this goal, Virginia Tech faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to register for a free International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) membership. IAAP membership benefits include free access to live and archived webinars, discounts for industry-produced webinars, a subscription to the digital "Accessibility Matters" newsletter, and participation in subject-matter-expert communities. Additional details about IAAP are available at https://www.accessibilityassociation.org.

Accessible Technologies awards grants to selected candidates throughout the university to become certified IAAP accessibility professionals. The program helps individuals deepen their knowledge of accessibility practices to better support people with disabilities. Individuals registering for their IAAP membership will be invited to apply for the fall 2024 grant cohort.

The goal of this week is to provide learning opportunities and resources that engage the campus community to think, discuss, learn, and take action regarding digital and physical accessibility. The week is sponsored by the Office for Equity and Accessibility, Campus Accessibility Working Group, and Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies.
