Planned HokieServ outage to occur May 3-4

To accommodate an upgrade to HokieServ to version 13.4.1, there will be a planned system outage on Friday, May 3, at 6 p.m. to Saturday, May 4, at noon. 

During this time, HokieServ and Ready Request - the customer submission platform for Virginia Tech's service requests (including maintenance and permits) - will be temporarily unavailable. 

During system upgrade operations, the university community should exercise the following actions:

During the system outage, if a maintenance request is needed for educational and general use spaces (such as classrooms and offices): 

Call the Virginia Tech Police Department's non-emergency line at (540) 231-6411 to report the situation.

For Routine Requests: Please share your request with vtrepair@vt.edu or (540) 231-4300 and we will respond during normal business hours. 

Leased-facilities service requests:

For those typically using the Virginia Tech work management system for requests, please share your request with vtrepair@vt.edu or (540) 231-4300.

If a maintenance request is needed for residential spaces, please follow the below steps:

If the request is non-urgent, please submit a Ready Request upon restoration of the system.  

If the request is more pressing, but not urgent, contact dsafacilities@vt.edu. Include details of the request, such as location, issue description, and contact information for follow up. 

If the request is urgent/an emergency, contact (540) 231-1111 to reach Student Affairs dispatch. This line is monitored Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Following 4:30 p.m., the line is forwarded to on-call emergency personnel.  

If the request is urgent/an emergency and there is a delayed response in the after hours dispatch, contact the Virginia Tech Police non-emergency line at (540) 382-4343.

If a temporary use application (such as for tents or inflatables) is needed:

Any temporary events using tents, inflatables, amusement devices, stages or generators that will take place in less than 30 days, please email event information to vtubo-g@vt.edu.  Events to take place beyond the 30 days, please hold information until the system is restored.
