Hokie Wellness offers a variety of programs in February. They include:

Feb. 1, 1-2 p.m.: Healthy Boundaries for Professionals (online): Explore and practice setting healthy boundaries in the workplace with an emphasis on communication and connection. This particular workshop will include a specific focus on issues facing faculty and staff who are often underrepresented and/or underserved. Registration is required.

Feb. 6, 12:15-1 p.m.: Sleep Better Techniques (online): This program will provide information on what happens when you sleep, along with tips on how to start reaping the benefits of great sleep. Registration is required.

Feb. 7, 12-1:15 p.m.: Brain Break with Hokie Wellness: Take a brain break and make a DIY craft. For more details about what we will be crafting, visit the registration link. This workshop will be held at the North End Center. Registration is required.

Feb. 12, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Improv Your Communication: Have fun and learn the foundational aspects of improvisation and how those skills can be used to enhance communication in both personal and professional environments. This workshop will be held at the North End Center. Registration is required.

Feb. 13, 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m.: Taxes 101: Taxes are full of nuances and complicated jargon. In this webinar, Jennifer Huffman, vice president, workplace solutions relationship manager with Atlantic Union, will provide explanations and resources that will make taxes less daunting. Registration is required.

Feb. 13, 6-8 p.m.: REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Emergency Response Training: Come learn more about opioids, addiction, and how to respond in an emergency. You will receive a REVIVE emergency response kit and the opioid overdose reversal drug Narcan (Naloxone), to take with you free of charge. This training will be held in McComas Hall, room 198 B. Registration is required.

Feb. 16, 12:15-1 p.m.: Healthy Nutrition on a Budget (online): In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a healthy and affordable meal plan, save money at the grocery store, and decrease food waste. Registration is required

Mental Health First Aid: MHFA takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches you how to safely and responsibly identify and address issues as they arise. Some of the topics covered include depression, anxiety disorder, and substance use disorders.

Feb. 27, 12:15-1 p.m.: Immune Support 101 (online): During the winter, it is vital to have daily healthy habits to equip your body and immune system to function at their best. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to foster healthy habits that are key to a thriving immune system. Registration is required.

Feb. 29, 1-2 p.m.: Self-care Strategies to Avoid Burnout (hybrid): We will examine strategies to recognize psychological and physical symptoms of stress and practice identifying actions we can take to alleviate these stressors. This workshop will be held in person at the North End Center and via Zoom. Registration is required.
