Hokie Wellness offers a variety of programs in January. They include:

Jan. 8, 9, 10, 11; 12:15-1 p.m.: Employee Fitness Class: Free employee-only group exercise classes will be offered by Recreational Sports. Classes will be held at McComas Gym, group exercise studios. No membership or registration required. For more information, contact katiw@vt.edu.

Jan. 10, 12-1:15 p.m.: Brain Break with Hokie Wellness: Take a brain break with Hokie Wellness and make a DIY craft; located in the North End Center. For more details, go to the registration link. Registration is required.

Jan. 12, 12-12:45 p.m.: Active Listening Practice: This session is designed to give you space to practice active listening. Whether you are new to active listening or have been using it for years, we all need practice from time to time to continue improving. Located in the North End Center. Registration is required.

Jan. 17, 24, 31; 12:15-1 p.m.: Employee-Only Group Exercise Class: This free weekly class, offered by Recreational Sports, is open to all employees. The class format will vary weekly. The class will be held at McComas Gym, group exercise studio. No membership or registration required. For more information, contact julietog@vt.edu.

Jan. 19, 12:15-1 p.m.: Getting Your Dose of Vitamin G (online): Learn about strategies to cultivate gratitude in ways that feel accessible and nourishing. Registration is required.  

Jan. 23, 12-12:30 p.m.: Planning for Baby - Staff (online): This workshop is for staff expecting the birth of a child or who have a child under three months of age. All are welcome to attend including fathers, non-birth mothers, and adoptive parents. Topics to be discussed include benefits, leave, and new parent resources. Registration is required

Jan. 24, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: Mental Health First Aid (online): MHFA takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance-use by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address issues as they arise. Registration is required

Jan. 26, 12:30-1 p.m.: Planning for Baby - Faculty (online): This workshop is for faculty expecting the birth of a child or those with a child under three months of age. All are welcome to attend including fathers, non-birth mothers, and adoptive parents. Topics to be discussed include benefits, leave, and new parent resources. Registration is required.

Jan. 29, 12-1 p.m.: Healthy Nutrition for Busy Schedules (online): Learn simple strategies for healthy meal and snack planning to help save time and mental energy throughout the week. You will leave with a few recipe ideas to get started. Registration is required

Feb. 1, 1-2 p.m.: Healthy Boundaries for Professionals (online): We will explore and practice setting healthy boundaries in the workplace while emphasizing communication and connection. Particular focus in this workshop will be given to support faculty and staff who are often underserved and underrepresented. Registration is required

Feb. 6, 12:15-1 p.m.: Sleep Better Techniques (online): This virtual program will provide information on what happens when you sleep, along with tips on how to start reaping the benefits of great sleep. Registration is required

Feb. 7, 12-1:15 p.m.: Brain Break with Hokie Wellness: Take a brain break with Hokie Wellness and make a DIY craft. Located in the North End Center. For more details, go to the registration link. Registration is required
