Participants needed for artificial sweeteners study
From: Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise
Researchers are conducting a study (IRB Protocol #22-507) to learn if consuming artificial sweeteners has any impact on glucose levels in adults at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.
Participants will come to the lab and be provided breakfast with and without artificial sweeteners to determine if two commonly consumed artificial sweeteners have an impact on glucose levels.
Participants will complete three visits in a random order, where they will receive either aspartame, sucralose, or the control. You may be eligible to participate if you are at least 40 years old.
This study involves four visits to the Virginia Tech Blacksburg Campus, over three weeks. Total time commitment will be about 10 hours. The study will include a screening visit to determine eligibility, and three visits where participants will eat a meal and undergo a blood draw.
Participants will be compensated a total of $45 upon successful completion of all study visits.
