Fun and easy fundraising ideas for the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign

From: Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign

Group fundraisers are a great way to donate to local charities through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign. Here are some ways your team can support charities through the CVC:

  • Offer a special class or training: Do any of your colleagues have a special skill they can share, such as yoga, cooking, or juggling? Hold a class and charge a small donation to attend. You can target specific charities related to the class.
  • Hold a contest: Everyone likes to vote for the funniest pet photo or ugliest sweater. Or see who can identify the most team members from their baby pictures. Charge $1 or $2 per entry. The winner receives bragging rights and a small prize.
  • Sponsor a pizza lunch: Sell slices of pizza to benefit charities of your choice. Pro tip: Have your colleagues register ahead of time so you know how many pizzas to order. Selling baked goods is also a popular option.
  • Hold a talent show: Unearth hidden talents on your team. Or sponsor a karaoke or lip-sync contest. Charge a small entry fee – and let the fun begin.
  • Auction a one-of-a-kind prize: Find a coveted T-shirt or item of Virginia Tech swag and auction it to the highest bidder.

Your donation, no matter how small, has an impact. A donation of $50 can provide a week of meals for home-bound senior citizens. Just $35 can provide a Thanksgiving meal for a family of four.

This year’s campaign has a goal of $400,000 and runs until Dec. 8. Donate to the CVC today.

NOTE: As a reminder, Virginia Tech employees are asked to use the university's CVC donation site when making a contribution. The state has a separate donation site, but donations made through that site may not be counted toward Virginia Tech's campaign goal.
