Workshop for faculty about increasing equity in promotion and tenure processes

From: Office of Faculty Affairs

A workshop designed for unit leaders and faculty serving on promotion and tenure committees will explore equity challenges in P&T decisions.

The CRLT Players from the University of Michigan act out vignettes portraying real-life P&T discussions, then facilitate conversation about how to identify and respond to the interpersonal dynamics and structural challenges that can undermine a fair tenure process.

By centering individuals who are often marginalized in higher education, performances make problematic dynamics and histories visible. The paired facilitated discussions ask participants to consider new approaches for increasing equity in various institutional contexts.

Three sessions will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Holtzmann Alumni Center. The content will be the same, so faculty may sign up for the most convenient time.

  • Thursday, Sept. 21, 9–11 a.m.
