Upcoming changes to Duo two-factor authentication interface

From: Division of Information Technology

Please be aware that beginning Oct. 9, you may notice updates to the two-factor authentication system at Virginia Tech. Duo will be implementing a transition away from the Duo iFrame, which is currently in use, to a new user interface known as the Duo Universal Prompt. Duo will be discontinuing support for the iFrame user interface by March 2024. This change will ensure uninterrupted use of Duo for the university's authentication needs. Secure Identity Services, a unit of the Division of Information Technology, will begin deploying the new interface on Monday Oct. 9.

During the transition period, you may see either the current Duo interface or the new Duo interface depending on which applications you are logging into. We will be completely transitioned to the new interface for all services prior to the end of March 2024.

The new user interface, known as the Duo Universal Prompt, offers improved compatibility and a streamlined user experience. Your current multi-factor devices and authentication options will continue to work with the new Duo Universal Prompt interface. More information about this transition and its benefits is available at Duo.com.

Once the rollout of the new interface commences, users needing assistance can find it by contacting 4Help IT support online (https://4Help.vt.edu) or by phone (540-231-4357).
