Volunteers needed for Y-Toss, one of the largest sustainability initiatives on campus

Participate in Y-Toss at Virginia Tech to help our community create a more sustainable campus by diverting thousands of pounds of waste from the landfill. The move-in program is a sale for incoming students of donated items that were collected in May.

The success of Y-Toss is dependent upon a strong volunteer base. The YMCA at Virginia Tech is seeking volunteers for the move-in event. Anyone is welcome to volunteer during any shifts from Aug. 11 - 18. For the move-in event, volunteers will help organize and price items, keep the sale neat, and help with setup and clean up.

This event is a great opportunity for employees to give back to our university community. If employees wish to volunteer, please work with your supervisor to ensure proper coverage in your department. Staff employees may use the state-provided community service hours to volunteer for this event. Additionally, volunteers will be able to shop the sale early.
