Call for proposals for inaugural Professional Development Conference

From: Human Resources

Virginia Tech has a deep commitment to engaging and developing the talents of our dynamic faculty and staff. The Professional Development Community of Practice is a collaborative partnership constantly striving to create a workplace that is inclusive, supportive, and conducive to growth and development in their respective areas.

The Professional Development Community of Practice’s commitment to the ongoing development of Virginia Tech employees is reflected in the investment in training and education programs throughout the university and other career development opportunities.

For that reason, the Professional Development Community of Practice will be hosting an inaugural Professional Development Conference on May 4 at the North End Center in Blacksburg, Virginia. The conference is sponsored by TLOS and Talent Development.

The theme for the conference is "Using Your Talent for Influencing Change and Solving Wicked Problems," and the conference committee is currently accepting proposals for engaging presenters to share tools, resources, and strategies during our 45-minute sessions.

There are a variety of tracks available:

  • Technology as a tool and a resource
  • Accessibility as a solution
  • Shared governance as a strategy for change
  • Examples of leading where you are
  • Engagement strategies in our ever-changing work communities
  • Sharing resources for influencing change and solving wicked problems

This is an excellent opportunity to share insights with Virginia Tech faculty and staff interested in professional and talent development, network with like-minded professionals, and gain exposure to presenters’ work. We encourage you to submit a proposal that addresses our theme and fits within one of our tracks.

We are proud to be a part of a community that values the contributions of all its members and is dedicated to promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and a culture of excellence.

For more information, and to submit your proposal, visit the conference's webpage. The deadline is approaching fast, so be sure to get your proposal in soon for this one short day!
