Start off the new year with programs from Hokie Wellness. January programs include:

Jan. 6, 12-1:30 p.m.: Say Bye to 2022 and Welcome 2023 with a Vision Board: Create a vision board for the new year with your goals, hopes, and dreams. Supplies will be provided; you just need to show up! This in-person program will be held at the North End Center and registration is required. Additional information will be provided upon registration.

Jan. 10, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Emergency Response Training: Learn more about opioids, addiction, and how to respond in an emergency. You will receive a REVIVE emergency response kit and the opioid overdose reversal drug, Narcan (Naloxone), to take with you free of charge. Registration is required.

Jan. 13, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder. Registration is required for this virtual class.

Jan. 19, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic: Hokie Wellness is partnering with Blacksburg Pharmacy to offer another COVID-19 vaccination booster clinic. Please bring your completed immunization form (sent via email upon registration), your COVID-19 vaccination card, and a photocopy of your insurance card. The clinic will be held at the North End Center in room 2410. Registration is required.

Jan. 23, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder. This in-person class will be held at the North End Center. Registration is required. Room information will be provided upon registration.

Jan. 25, 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Six Dimensions of Well-being: Have you ever wondered what well-being truly is? Learn more about the dimensions of well-being and how to intentionally incorporate each into daily life. Attendees will have the opportunity to assess ways in which they are currently tending to each dimension as well as identify areas for improvement with clear tips and action steps. Registration is required.

Jan. 26, 12:15-1:15 p.m.: Brain Break / Make a DIY Craft: Are things a little hectic with the start of the semester? Take a brain break! Hokie Wellness is partnering with New River Art & Fiber to offer curated craft kits. January’s kit will be a needle-felted succulent. Each kit costs $15, and advance purchase is required. You may also bring your own project: knitting, art, coloring, a model kit, or whatever makes you happy. We will provide some supplies for vision boarding and more. Feel free to bring your lunch; Hokie Wellness will provide the drinks. Registration is only required for those purchasing a craft kit. Individuals bringing their own projects do not need advance registration. The event will be held at the North End Center, room 2420.

Jan. 27, 12:15-1 p.m.: Self-Care Strategies: Self-care is an important, ongoing, and multi-dimensional practice. This virtual program will provide tips for effective and sustainable self-care. Registration is required.

Tuesday, Jan. 31, 12:15-12:45 p.m.: TimelyCare Information Session: TimelyCare is a virtual health mental wellness service available to full-time faculty and staff and non-student wage employees at no cost. In this virtual session, employees will learn more about the three free services offered by TimelyCare: individual counseling sessions, TalkNow on-demand mental health support, and health coaching. Registration is required.
