Hokie Wellness offers a range of programs during December. They include:

Dec. 6, 11-11:30 a.m.: TimelyCare for Employees Information Session/Demo: This virtual session will provide more information about TimelyCare, a new virtual mental health benefit available to all full- and part-time faculty and staff and non-student wage employees. The session will show how to get connected, what resources TimelyCare has to offer, and a live demonstration of the web platform.  Registration is required.

Dec. 7, 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Healthy Eating for the Holidays: The holidays can be a tempting time to forego our healthy eating habits. However, we do not have to give up the treats and goodies all together. Join us for a virtual program and learn tips on how to enjoy holidays treats and still maintain a nutritious diet. Registration is required.

Dec. 9, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.: Recovery Ally Training: Hokie Wellness will offer an interactive training session on recovery from addiction, ways to eliminate stigma, and how to become a Recovery Ally. The Virginia Tech Recovery Community endeavors to create an environment where students in or seeking recovery feel accepted, are comfortable asking for and receiving help, and where their achievements are celebrated. By becoming a Recovery Ally, you are declaring that you embody these ideals. The program will be held at the North End Center, room 2440. Registration is required.  

Dec. 9, 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Unwind Offline: How does digital tech affect you? Are you constantly checking your devices? Gain an understanding of your level of technology dependence and its effects on emotional health, the pros and cons of device use, and discuss addictive aspects of digital technology. Registration required.

Dec. 1, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Save for Future Higher Education Expenses with VA 529: Saving for future education expenses for a child, a grandchild – or even yourself – can seem overwhelming. Dec. 13, 12: 30-1 p.m.: EAP/LiveHealth Online: This virtual information session will provide more information on the Employee Assistance Program, how to get connected, and what additional resources EAP has to offer.  The session will also include a brief demonstration of LiveHealth Online, a robust telehealth platform that provides Anthem COVA Care members access to a variety of medical professionals, including board-certified physicians, licensed therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, allergy specialists, and more. Registration is required.

Dec. 14, 1-2 p.m.: QPR, Suicide Prevention: In this virtual program, QPR offers information about suicide and provides guidelines on what you can do to prevent suicide. Registration is required.

Dec. 20, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Mindful Journaling: Join Hokie Wellness in-person for an opportunity to reconnect with your sense of purpose by working through a collection of guided journaling prompts. Journals and pens will be provided to attendees. Registration is required. Location and other details will be provided after registration.
