Hokie Health: Resources and support for those affected by long-haul COVID

From: Hokie Wellness

While many who have had COVID-19 experience symptoms for only a short period, others can suffer for extended lengths of time or may experience new or recurring symptoms after initially recovering from the virus. This has come to be called long-haul COVID.

Diagnosis criteria for long-haul COVID include returning or ongoing post-COVID 19 problems for four or more weeks after the initial infection.

Hokie Wellness offers a number of informational resources for those impacted by long-haul COVID on its Long COVID Resources website. You’ll find mental and physical health resources from national experts and organizations, as well as information from state, local, and university health and safety offices.

An informative video on supporting those with long COVID features Ben Davis from Schiffert Health Center; Amy Epperley, senior director of Hokie Wellness; and Nikeshia Arthur, associate dean for students and director of Services for Students with Disabilities.

Hokie Wellness serves Virginia Tech to foster a healthier community by providing prevention services, education, outreach, and resources to employees and students. If you have questions, need assistance, or want to join the Hokie Wellness Google group to stay up to date with monthly updates, contact the team at hokiewellness@vt.edu.
