Tree removal operations to occur near War Memorial Hall

To accommodate capital construction efforts at War Memorial Hall, several trees near the facility will be removed on Monday, March 27 - Wednesday, March 29. 

The Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities is developing an urban forest master plan that includes a campus tree policy and an urban forest management plan that support increasing the urban tree canopy on the Blacksburg campus to 25 percent. These administrative and planning efforts will help achieve Virginia Tech’s Climate Action Commitment goal of a carbon neutral campus by 2030.

Nearly 550 trees will be planted on the university’s Blacksburg campus in the 2022 - 2023 planting season. 

Future opportunities to engage in tree planting events with the university arborist will be communicated via VTx.
