Abandoned on a property in southeastern Maryland, a pregnant mare and emaciated colt adopted by Amiya Veatch are now thriving, along with the mare's yearling, at the Veatch farm in Fort Washington, Maryland. Veatch, a member of the advisory council of Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) in Leesburg, Virginia, brought the mare to EMC for specialized foaling care.
