    Sound Horizons exhibit creates immersive audio experience in Alexandria , video

    Sound Horizons is the first exhibit in Alexandria as part of the new partnership between the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT) and the City of Alexandria. The exhibitions will be held at the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery in Alexandria from now through September 2024. Gallery visitors will experience the exhibition through ICAT’s Tesseract, a high-density loudspeaker array that physically immerses listeners in sound. Target Gallery is typically open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily with occasional 5 p.m. and holiday closures.

The U-Pass program strives to achieve several key goals: fostering new transit ridership, alleviating the demand for on-campus parking, reducing emissions, and enhancing students' connectivity to both their respective campuses and the broader region.

    Potomac Yard metro station opens outside Innovation Campus , video

    On May 19, Virginia Tech celebrated the opening of the Potomac Yard-VT Metro Station, alongside Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, the City of Alexandria, and residents of the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia communities. The Potomac Yard-VT station – located on the blue and yellow lines between the National Airport and Braddock Road stations – will connect faculty, staff, and students from the Innovation Campus with industry, government, and Virginia Tech locations in the region.

    Virginia Tech hosts its first STEM and College Fair in Alexandria, Virginia , video

    On Saturday, October 29, 2022, Virginia Tech hosted its first Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and College Fair in collaboration with Alfred Street Baptist Church at George Washington Middle Schools in Alexandria, Virginia. Over 200 K-12 students and parents were introduced to Virginia Tech as a destination to pursue their postsecondary goals. The event featured a college information session for parents, hands-on STEM sessions for K-12 students, a college and career fair, and a K-16 student panel with K-12 students highlighting their Center for the Enhancement in Engineering and Diversity (CEED) pre-college program experiences and Virginia Teach undergraduate students sharing their college experiences, lessons learned, and tips for success as current students pursuing STEM degrees. The collaborative efforts among Virginia Tech Innovation Campus, the College of Engineering, the Center for the Enhancement in Engineering and Diversity (CEED), the College Access Collaboratives, the College of Science, and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences made this event a reality with the huge support of 31 Virginia Tech undergraduate students from the Galileo/Hypatia, Ujima and Orion Living and Learning, and 15 exhibitors including Alexandria City Transit DASH Electrification Fleet, Inova Partnerships for Healthier Communities, Betabox Mobile Lab from North Carolina, Capital Youth Empowerment Programs, Go Pursue, and Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
