Destination Areas are designed to support and accelerate Virginia Tech’s transformation of areas of interdisciplinary strength into dynamic, transdisciplinary collaborations.
The seminar series, presented virtually due to the ongoing pandemic, is intended primarily for an academic audience but is open to all members of the Virginia Tech community as well as the public. Events in the program, set for Friday at 11 a.m. of most weeks, offer the expertise of a wide range of scientists exploring frontiers in biomedical research.
Research expenditures are up and sponsored awards have increased by 15 percent, building upon the prior year’s expenditure total of $542 million, despite the impact of COVID-19 felt nationally by higher education institutes, according to preliminary fiscal year-end reports.
