Carmen McBride, a licensed veterinary technician in anesthesia at VMCVM since 2017, loves working with diverse species and supportive coworkers. She finds joy in students' "lightbulb moments" and memorable cases like an alpaca C-section. At home, she enjoys time with her son, pets, and chickens, and dreams of traveling the world.
In a pioneering exchange program, four Chinese veterinary students from Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University experienced American veterinary medicine at veterinary college. The eight-week initiative, launched in August 2024, immersed students in diverse specialties while laying groundwork for a broader partnership, with Virginia Tech students set to study in China by June 2025.
As the newest faculty member of anesthesiology, in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Toshitsugu Ishihara brings a decade of clinical experience from Japan and a passion for advancing animal care to the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.
