As deputy director, Freeman assists Eric Paterson, the executive director, in continuing the institute’s trajectory for growth and maximizing its impact on the university and the country.
The annual event hosted by the Ted and Karyn Hume Center for National Security and Technology allows students across academic colleges and departments hear from leaders in the national security field and present their research to Virginia Tech faculty, government, and industry partners.
The grant will be allocated toward supporting scholarships for students interested in careers focused on cybersecurity and critical foreign languages, and supporting experiential learning opportunities.
The goal of the program is to support the recruitment of new cyber talent and the retention of current highly skilled professionals within the DoD cyber workforce.
