U.S. Air Force Capt. Matt Krusiec, a 2019 Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus who earned his degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, was selected as the Hokie Hero for Saturday’s football game against Vanderbilt.

The Hokie Hero program honors corps alumni who are deployed. Recipients are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during their radio broadcast of Hokie football games, on the Corps of Cadets website, and in the Corps Review alumni magazine.

Krusiec is deployed to an undisclosed location as an intelligence officer assigned to the 52nd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron. Serving as the personnel recovery task force intelligence lead, he oversees intelligence planning, coordination, and reporting in support of pararescue and combat rescue officers engaged in search and rescue operations. During his time in the corps, Krusiec was a member of Alpha and Echo companies and served as the regimental executive officer during his senior year.
