Ashley Lohr receives 2015 College of Natural Resources and Environment Outstanding Senior Award
Ashley Lohr of Purcellville, Virginia, received Virginia Tech’s 2015 College of Natural Resources and Environment Outstanding Senior Award.
Sponsored by the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and the senior class, the Outstanding Senior Award recognizes exceptional academic achievement and leadership by a graduating senior from each of the university’s eight colleges. Recipients have a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale and are selected by faculty and students within the respective colleges.
Lohr will receive a bachelor’s degree in wildlife conservation with a minor in entomology during the University Commencement ceremony May 15 in Lane Stadium.
A dean’s list student, Lohr is a member of the University Honors Community. She earned numerous scholarships including the Martha Pennington Orth Memorial Scholarship, AmeriCorps Education Award, Timberland Management and Investments Scholarship, John Lee Pratt Foundation Scholarship, Loudoun County Farm Bureau Scholarship, and the Peabody Scholarship.
She also received a Fralin Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship and the Atlantic Coast Conference Creativity and Innovation Grant. She participated in undergraduate research opportunities and served as a research volunteer.
Outside of academics, Lohr served as president of the Virginia Tech chapter of the Wildlife Society and as a member of The Environmental Coalition of Virginia Tech. Her service activities include The Big Event at Virginia Tech and Relay for Life.
