Board of Visitors sets tuition and fees for 2014-15
Earlier today, the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors approved tuition and fees for the 2014-15 academic year.
The board approved increases of $562 and $837 respectively for resident and non-resident students. Mandatory tuition and fees for Virginia undergraduate students will be $12,017; out-of-state students will pay $28,048 annually.
Average room and board fees will rise by $274 per year for a total of $7,924.
The university’s 2014-15 budget includes additional financial aid to ensure the continued accessibility and affordability of university programs. Undergraduate students received more than $119 million in grant aid and scholarship support in Fiscal Year 2013.
The 2014-15 tuition and fee package continues the 10 percent discount for summer session and winter session to help students complete degrees at an accelerated pace during non-traditional times.
Virginia Tech’s comprehensive fee, the lowest in Virginia, will rise by $68 to $1,820. The comprehensive fee supports various student life activities such as student activities, student services, health service, bus service, athletics, and recreational sports.
Revenue generated from auxiliary fees will be used to support several student life projects including improved coverage on existing bus routes, the inVenTs residential living-learning community, additional medical and counseling staff at Schiffert Health Center, fitness and dining equipment enhancements, and several residence hall facility improvement projects.
When adding tuition and mandatory fees with average room and board, the total cost for a Virginia undergraduate living on campus will be $19,941 and a non-resident living on campus would be $35,972.
Tuition and fees for resident graduate students will rise by $562 to $13,585 and for non-residents by $1,296 to $25,884.
The total annual cost to Virginia and Maryland veterinary students will $22,448, an increase of $652, and non-residents will pay $48,556, an increase of $1,098.
