The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) will open a new art exhibition exploring the connections between nature, creativity, health, and well-being. The public is invited to the exhibition's opening on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The school regularly hosts art exhibitions as part of its commitment to incorporating the arts and humanities into medical education while creating opportunities for students, faculty, and community members to engage with one another through creative expression. The exhibitions also encourage reflection on the human side of health care and the role creativity can play in healing and wellness.

WHO: The exhibit features artists and creative works from local community organizations including 3 Balloons, Morningside Urban Farm, the Virginia Tech Engagement Center for Creative Aging, and Veterans in Focus.

WHAT: “Healing Grows: Exploring Art, Nature, Health, and Well-Being,” is an exhibition featuring works shaped by natural materials and processes. Artists were encouraged to incorporate elements such as weather, time, plants, rocks, seeds, bark, and other living or found materials, allowing nature to become an active collaborator in the creative process.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5:30–7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, 2 Riverside Circle, Roanoke.
