When the Hokies charge onto Worsham Field on Saturday, first-year cadets Kassia Bell, Cole Fricke, and Timia Robinson of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will be ready in the south end zone to receive the colors—an honor earned through grit, peer leadership, and exceptional performance during the corps’ intense training.

They will receive the American, state, and team spirit flags from three football players chosen for their standout performance in practices or games. The pregame ceremony continues a longtime tradition uniting Virginia Tech Football and the Corps of Cadets.

This week’s flag bearers stood out early during the corps' rigorous Forge Week:

  • Kassia Bell, from Smithfield, Virginia, is an Army ROTC cadet majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering. A high performer in November Company, Bell proved her skills early by excelling in rifle drill and leading her peers through high-stress challenges at the rappel tower and obstacle course.

  • Cole Fricke, from Yorktown, Virginia, is an Air Force ROTC cadet majoring in political science in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. A member of Oscar Company, Fricke earned recognition for his focus on team unity, spending hours helping fellow new cadets master uniform standards and core military skills.

  • Timia Robinson, from Stafford, Virginia, is an Air Force ROTC cadet majoring in cybersecurity management and analytics in the Pamplin College of Business. A member of the regimental band, the Highty-Tighties, Robinson consistently set the standard for cadet knowledge during Forge Week, volunteering to take the lead in unit preparations and daily training.

For home games, three first-year cadets are selected based on corps performance. Upper-class cadets are also selected for their performance to travel with the team and receive the flags during away games. Virginia Tech is one of only six senior military colleges in the nation.
