Cadet chosen to highlight the colors at the Boston College game
Cadet Noah Calayo of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will travel with the Hokies this weekend to receive the colors as they face Boston College on Saturday. The pregame ceremony continues a longtime tradition uniting Virginia Tech Football and the Corps of Cadets.
Calayo is a member of Charlie Company and the corps’ Citizen-Leader Track. An approachable and positive cadet, he serves as the platoon leader for the first-year cadets in his company, offering guidance and setting the example in leadership and personal appearance. Calayo, from Virginia Beach, Virginia, also serves as the public affairs officer for his company, showing his passion for creating compelling content that accurately portrays the cadet experience. He is majoring in criminology in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. Showing exceptional balance between his cadet and academic responsibilities, he also works for Virginia Tech Dining Services at Bruegger’s Bagels and competes with the Virginia Tech Club Wrestling team.
While first-year cadets are chosen to receive flags during home games, upperclass cadets are selected to represent the corps at away games based on exceptional performance. Calayo will receive the American flag during pregame ceremonies from one of three football players selected to enter the field carrying the American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag for their standout performance in practice and games.
