Kicking off football season with Hokie Spirit and wise choices

Hi, Hokies! 

The start of football season is just around the corner. As we prepare for games against VMI and ODU, I want to share some important information and guidance on how to have a safe, fun game day experience.

What you need to know for game days

Arrive early. Gates open two hours before kickoff, but we recommend arriving at least an hour and a half early to avoid crowds and long waits.

Hydrate and fuel up before you enter the stadium. Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the stadium, but there are concessions on the upper east student entry portals that open just after kickoff.

Download your student ticket before you arrive at the stadium, as data capacity near the stadium is limited on game days.

Tap 'N Go technology allows fans to tap their phone at venue entry points for fast, secure access. Screenshots will not work.

As a reminder, Gate 7 is only for Student General Admissions (GA). GA tickets must enter at Gate 7. All other ticket types must use other gate entrances. 

If your tickets are in the same section, stick with those you plan to sit with — No Hokie Left Behind. Arrive together, stay together, leave together. Looking out for one another helps prevent unsafe or high-risk situations. 

Be responsible and respectful. The Student Conduct Office will be on site at football games to inform students of conduct consequences and take disciplinary action if necessary.
