Stacy King named assistant vice president and university controller

Stacy King has been promoted to assistant vice president and university controller, effective June 10. She served in the role on an interim basis since October 2025, prior to which she was associate controller for accounting operations.

In this role, King will oversee the university’s accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, internal controls, and financial system optimization activities. 

“In a short period of time, Stacy's leadership has already advanced our Controller’s Office goals of excelling in customer service, financial compliance, fostering greater efficiencies, and serving as a critical partner to university stakeholders,” said Simon Allen, vice president for finance and chief financial officer. “She is thoughtful, solutions-oriented, and committed to transparency and responsible stewardship. I look forward to continuing to work alongside her in support of the university’s strategic priorities.”

King will also support the development of key financial policies and procedures, ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, and drive strategic initiatives within the Division of Finance.

King has 30 years of progressive experience in higher education accounting, financial reporting, and operational management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Radford University and is a licensed certified public accountant in Virginia.
