Community invited to complete presidential search survey
Virginia Tech’s presidential search website now includes a survey that provides the university community and broader public an opportunity to share opinions with the Presidential Search Committee about the characteristics and priorities that will best serve the university in the next president. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
The Board of Visitors has retained the firm Isaacson Miller to aid in the search to replace President Tim Sands. Sands announced his plans to step down in April but said he is committed to serving the university until his successor is in place.
The search committee is chaired by Nancy Dye, a member of the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
“The selection of a new president is the Board of Visitors’ single most important job,” she said. “I have emphasized to the committee that this is a big job that will require us to work hard and to work in a collegial spirit. I commit to the members of the committee and the Virginia Tech community that this search will be undertaken with 100 percent transparency and accountability.”
A link on the presidential search website enables members of the community to submit nominations of potential candidates or for individuals to express their interest in the position directly to the search firm.
Other information currently posted on the website includes the membership of the search committee, summaries of topics discussed during early listening sessions, and an initial leadership profile.
The leadership profile will be refined based on those listening sessions, surveys, and other feedback collected.
The website also will carry a wide range of news and other information as it becomes available.
