Presidential Search Committee to meet virtually on May 11
The Virginia Tech Presidential Search Committee will hold an initial organizational meeting on Monday, May 11, at 2 p.m.
Because the search committee includes the members of the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, this virtual meeting will be livestreamed for the public.
The agenda of the meeting will be posted to the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors website prior to the meeting, along with the link to view the livestream.
In April, Virginia Tech President Tim Sands announced his intention to step down in the coming months after 12 years of service to the university community and the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a career dedicated to the advancement of science and the impact of public higher education. In making the announcement, Sands said it was the right time to begin the process of stepping aside and provide the next president the opportunity to “take the baton at full stride” and continue Virginia Tech’s significant growth and momentum.
Last week, the university announced that two listening sessions have been scheduled for members of the Presidential Search Committee to receive input from students, faculty, and staff before exams conclude and spring commencement activities begin. These in-person sessions will allow members of the university community to share their insights on the characteristics they seek in the next Virginia Tech president.
Information for the public to watch the search committee meeting will also be found on the Board of Visitors website on the day of the meeting. Anyone encountering issues with accessing the livestream can contact Virginia Tech 4-Help at 540-231-2280.
Public comment will not be received during the search committee meeting.
