Heather Davis recognized as Rising Star by Association for Psychological Science
Heather Davis, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, was recently honored as a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science (APS).
The APS Rising Star designation is presented to outstanding members in the earliest stages of their research career after earning a Ph.D. It recognizes researchers whose innovative work has already advanced the field and signals great potential for their continued contributions.
In her research, Davis aims to understand the overlap between disordered eating, depression, anxiety, substance use, and suicidality. She currently serves as director of the Study and Emotions and Eating Disorders (SEED) Lab, which seeks to improve the lives of those suffering from disordered eating and related psychopathology.
“We are pleased to share the news that Heather Davis has been named an APS Rising Star, one of the most prestigious international early-career awards in psychology,” said Jamie Edgin, chair of the Department of Psychology in the College of Science. “Her work exemplifies the integration of cutting-edge scientific inquiry with our mission of Ut Prosim — advancing knowledge in the psychology of eating behaviors in ways that meaningfully serve individuals and communities.”
With this award, the Virginia Tech Department of Psychology now boasts five faculty members who have received the APS Rising Stars designation. Davis joins fellow Rising Stars Tae-Ho Lee, Rosanna Breaux, Meagan Brem, and Louis Hickman.
