Dear Hokies,

As Virginia Tech prepares to welcome students, families, alumni, and visitors for Spring Game, Hokie Hi Weekend, and Spring Family Weekend, we look forward to a weekend filled with Hokie pride, connection, and tradition. With several large events happening across campus, we encourage everyone to plan ahead and help create a safe, welcoming environment for all.

The weekend schedule

  • Spring Game will kick off at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Lane Stadium, bringing together Hokies for an exciting day of football and community celebration.

  • Spring Family Weekend gives families an opportunity to spend time with their student, connect with fellow Hokie families, explore campus resources, and participate in events like family socials, information sessions, academic-hosted programming, and more!

  • Families attending Spring Family Weekend are invited to join me for Coffee with the Dean of Students on Sunday, April 19, from 9–10 a.m. in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom. I look forward to meeting you, learning about your Hokie’s journey, and sharing how the Dean of Students Office can partner with you to support their success.

Weekends like this showcase the strength of the Hokie community. By making thoughtful decisions and looking out for one another, we can ensure these traditions remain positive experiences for everyone involved.

Your guide for a safe and fun weekend

  • Plan ahead and allow extra time. Larger crowds, increased traffic, and limited parking are expected throughout the weekend. Review schedules in advance and follow guidance from event staff and public safety officials.

  • Be a considerate community member. Respect neighbors, keep noise at a reasonable level, dispose of trash properly, and follow local ordinances in both campus and residential areas.

  • No Hokie Left Behind. Stick with your crew — arrive together, stay together, and leave together. Looking out for each other helps prevent unsafe situations.

  • Safety first always. Use designated walkways, follow event guidelines, and reach out to Virginia Tech Police or staff if you need help.

  • Accountability matters. Unsafe behavior or public intoxication may result in arrest. Choose the Hokie way — safe, spirited, and respectful.

Thank you for helping create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all members of the Hokie community and our visitors. We hope you enjoy a memorable weekend celebrating Virginia Tech traditions and spending time together.

Go Hokies!
