Steven "Kelcie" Edwards, retired access control manager in the Division of Facilities, passed away on Friday, April 3. He was 74 years old.

Edwards was born to the late Annie R. Edwards and Robert K. Edwards and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi. 

Edwards dedicated his life to the service of others. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Robert A. Owens DD827. Later, he served the Virginia Tech community for 22 years in the Division of Facilities. 

He was a master mason and member of the Hunter's Lodge No. 156 and Craighill Lodge No. 160. 

Edwards was devoted to his family as a husband, father, and grandfather and he and his wife, Melba, enjoyed traveling over the years by motorcycle and RV. He enjoyed flying a Stearman and was working to obtain his pilot's license.

Edwards is survived by his wife of 34 years, Melba; son Thomas M. Amos (Stacey); and grandson Nathan Amos.

He is preceded in death by his parents Annie R. Edwards and Robert K. Edwards.
