VMCVM Pet Spotlight: Hollow
What’s your name, and do you think it’s as awesome as you are?
My name is Hollow! I am named after the farm that I came from, Stoneyhollow Farm, a local Jersey dairy near my home in Pennsylvania.
Who is your human and what is their role at the veterinary college?
My human is Lily Stenning, a second-year veterinary student.
What kind of critter are you, and what makes your breed (or mix) totally pawsome?
I am what they call a "picked-up-off-the-side-of-the-road barn cat". We are the best cats because almost nothing phases us; we've seen it all.
How many candles are on your birthday cake this year—or are you keeping that a secret?
I began my terrible twos in February!
Where did you find your human, and what made you pick them?
Lily happened upon me at the dairy farm's milk house during a herd check visit. She thought I was too pretty to be a barn cat, so here I am, living the life of a pampered vet school cat.
How would you describe yourself: a snugglebug, a wild child, or the boss of the house?
I would say I'm a healthy mix of both snugglebug and wild child. I have to keep my sister, Isla the Pomsky, on her toes as often as possible, but at night, Lily makes the best heated pillow.
What’s your signature move to get attention—puppy eyes, zoomies, or something else?
My signature move is to scratch on anything (chair, carpet, etc.), and Lily will just come running!
Do you have a favorite toy that you’d fight a dragon to keep?
Well, I don't know if I could choose between my stuffing-less hedgehog, my pink ball, or my avocado squishy!
What’s your go-to snack, and how do you convince your human to hand it over? (Do you have a secret trick?)
I love Churus, especially the tuna ones! They are my special treat for veterinary appointments.
What’s the most epic adventure you’ve had with your human?
This year Lily, Isla, and I hiked all the way up to Cascades! Technically, I was carried for some of it, but I swear I walked a lot!
What’s something you did that left your human totally speechless—good or bad?
I was the goodest boy during my blood donation appointment at the VTH. Lily was incredibly proud of me!
What’s your best “I’m too cute to handle” pose for the camera?
A good old-fashioned "head tilt".
Describe a day in your fabulous life. Do you work hard or hardly work?
I eat breakfast, nap, run around with Isla, nap, scratch on the furniture, nap, try to eat Isla's food, decide to eat my own, nap again, and then it's bedtime!
Do you have any rituals with your human, like belly rub o’clock or snack time at sundown?
I get picked up, squeezed, and kissed multiple times a day, if that counts!
What’s your relationship status with other animals? BFFs, frenemies, or “it’s complicated”?
Obviously, my bestie is Isla, but I'm pretty chill with just about everyone.
Do you have any party tricks that wow the crowd?
I can walk on a leash and have been told that I am an exceptionally calm cat for my age.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would want the human superpower of opening doors. They get to go outside all the time.
What’s one thing your human should learn from you?
The art of true relaxation.
What’s the best thing about being your human’s sidekick?
Lily has taken Isla and I to some pretty cool places where we've met some of the nicest people!
Anything else you want to bark, meow, chirp, neigh, or squeak to the readers? (This is your moment!)
I wish for more sleep for all vet students, so that they can be like me!
