Welcome back, Hokies!

As we approach St. Patrick’s Day, we hope everyone in the Virginia Tech community finds time to enjoy the occasion by connecting and making great memories together. Keeping safety and well-being in mind will help ensure the fun lasts.

Here are a few reminders to help you celebrate responsibly.

Before you go out:

  • Make a plan. Tell a friend or roommate where you’re headed and when you expect to be back.
  • Choose a safety buddy. Look out for each other and agree to leave together if plans change. No Hokie Left Behind means we take care of one another.

While you’re out:

  • Stick with friends. Groups are safer and more fun. Watch each other’s backs and check in throughout the evening.
  • Make smart choices around alcohol. If you choose to drink, do so intentionally. Stick to your pace, keep your drink with you, and never accept drinks from strangers. Plan your ride home ahead of time.

Where to get help:

  • Hokie Ready app. Request an escort, report suspicious activity, or contact campus safety.
  • Emergency services. Call 911 for immediate danger.
  • Dean of Students Office. For support, conflict assistance, or to report incidents that affect well-being, reach out to the Dean of Students Office. Outside of normal business hours, you can call 540-231-6411 and then press 1. This line is routed through the Virginia Tech Police Department.

We want this St. Patrick’s Day to be memorable for the right reasons — filled with camaraderie, good times, and Hokie Spirit. Please remember that the Dean of Students Office and Division of Public Safety are here for you and ready to listen, help, and connect you with the resources you need.

In Hokie Spirit,

Meaghan K. Davidson

Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
