10th State of the University Address will focus on elevating Virginia Tech’s impact
Elevating the university’s real-world impact through outcome-oriented teaching, research, and outreach will be the focus of President Tim Sands’ 10th State of the University Address on Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech.
The address will include examples of how the university’s engagement is affecting the lives of people and communities and a first look at a new economic impact study that reveals how much Virginia Tech contributes to the economic vitality of communities across the commonwealth.
“This is a critical time for the university as we develop a new strategic plan that aligns with our evolving Beyond Boundaries vision,” Sands said. “In 2026 we can elevate our role as a leading public university by advancing deep partnerships, community engagement, and public service through the growing Virginia Tech Innovation Network.”
The address will be livestreamed. More information is available on the 2026 State of the University web page.
