In anticipation of potential wintry weather, Virginia Tech has put snow emergency routes on the Blacksburg campus in effect starting at 5 p.m. today, Jan. 30.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in effect until 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Snow routes go into effect prior to road conditions deteriorating to support snow removal and emergency vehicle movement. When snow routes are in effect, student vehicles should only be parked in the Stadium Lot, the Cage, and the Oak Lane lot to allow for lot clearing. State vehicles must be moved as well.

Snow and ice removal operations on Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus continue following the winter storm that occurred over the weekend of Jan. 24-25. As an additional winter event with snow accumulation and continued cold temperatures is projected to reach the New River Valley beginning Friday, Jan. 30, plowing efforts will continue to help support safe and efficient pedestrian and vehicular travel.  Read the full notice.
